Fritzlar Shenanigans

Here’s a little update on life in Fritzlar and what we have been up to with the other students when we are actually in Fritzlar for the weekend. (Bergen takes up a lot of free weekends.)

A night of bowling. That’s right CBF Alumni, Fritzlar finally got a bowling alley 3 months ago. So we decided to check it out. We had a blast bowling with mostly first timers and Dan managed to show them his skill, bowling his highest ever score of 216. And what do you know, he succeeded to make the high score on our lane and his name is now proudly displayed above lane 10. Someone asked me that night “Is Dan good at every sport?” I simply replied,” Dan doesn’t consider bowling a sport.”

A night at Hemingway with my buddy Birte. So I finally got in my first taste of German beer- a long neck Beck’s Green Lemon. That’s right a German beer with an English name. (It’s really not that uncommon.) Birte says it’s a “Madchenbier- ein biermischgetrank mit ein limonigen Geschmack” It’s a girly beer- a mixed beer drink with a lemon twist. I liked it.

As you have probably figured out, we have been experiencing an unusually beautiful warm spring here in Germany. And what better a thing to do in beautiful weather than to BBQ (or grill as they say in Germany) Each of the students bought their own meat and we had a huge BBQ. It was so much fun and we were so happy to be grilling on April 4th, well that is until it poured! As with any period of warm weather, you need to expect the rain showers. So we hauled the grill into the garage and continued cooking meat of all kinds. We’re a resourceful bunch.

We've also had a few hair dying parties. I've been blond all my life but decided to find out what it's like to be a brunette and a red head. I'm going back to blond.
